Apartment Sponsors
Out of the 24 apartments we serve, 16 are transitional units that are furnished by donations and put together by apartment sponsors. Apartment sponsors are volunteers from organizations, churches and clubs who recruit a group of folks to gather, organize and move the furnishings into our empty apartments.
Typical items needed (depending on the unit size and family need) are beds, a couch, table & chairs, dressers, bedding, home decor and kitchen items. The sponsors set up the home in preparation for a new family and that family takes the items with them when they locate permanent housing (typically between 18-24 months). Most families come in with little to no belongings and are in need of a fresh start.
It is such a moving moment when a previously homeless family walks in and knows that they are finally home! This process has been such a blessing for our families but also for those who are able to be of service. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions about being an apartment sponsor.
